Obituary for Elinor Rae Baron

Elinor Rae Baron passed away on Tuesday, April 11th at her home with William (Bill) Baron, her
beloved husband of 62 years, by her side.
Elinor was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY before leaving for love to California, then Indiana,
and eventually to Clemson, SC, where she raised three wonderful children and came to know
and befriend almost every resident in the town. She and Bill left Clemson after 46 years and
moved to Boulder, CO to be closer to their daughter and grandson, and to bring joy and laughter
to their new friends at the Carillon.
Elinor was a kind, compassionate and tireless person who gave all of her energy to making the
world a brighter place for her family, friends and all else who had the good fortune of making her
acquaintance. She was a no-nonsense woman who called the world like she saw it. She knew
how to treat people the way they needed to be treated, and she respected all for who they were.
She knew how to laugh with the world and she was not afraid to laugh at herself. She was
funny, a little bit crazy, and charming, but in a “no-filter” kind of way.
Elinor was also independent, tenacious and resourceful. During her life in Clemson she went
from teaching elementary school to building a successful real estate business, all while
engaging with volunteer work at the local and national level, including recent recognition for 50
years with the League of Women Voters. At the same time she and Bill raised three independent
children who lived as far away as California, England and China. She taught them to be resilient
and self-reliant, allowing them to be who they wanted to be.
Elinor is predeceased by her parents Ben and Ida Teitelbaum and her sisters Reva and Julie.
She is survived by her children and their families: Jeff and his husband Kevin; Sondra, her
husband Andrew and their son Zachary; and Loren, his wife Cheryl, and their children Mollie
and Myles.
